H3N2 is a subtype of the Influenza A virus, known to cause seasonal flu epidemics. It is one of the most mutating and severe strains, often associated with higher hospitalization rates, especially among children and the elderly. While related to regular flu viruses, H3N2 can sometimes lead to intense symptoms and secondary infections like pneumonia or bronchitis.

Seasonal Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is an acute respiratory infection caused by influenza viruses. It spreads easily from person to person through respiratory droplets, especially during winter and seasonal changes. Although most people recover in 7–10 days, influenza can be dangerous for young children, elderly people, and those with chronic illnesses.

Nipah Virus (NiV) is a zoonotic virus — meaning it spreads from animals to humans — and is known for causing severe respiratory illness and encephalitis (brain inflammation). The virus was first identified in 1999 in Malaysia, and since then, sporadic outbreaks have occurred in Bangladesh and India, especially in Kerala, raising concerns due to its high fatality rate.

Monkeypox is a rare but potentially serious viral disease caused by the monkeypox virus, a member of the Orthopoxvirus family — the same family as smallpox. The disease was once confined to Central and West Africa but has recently appeared in non-endemic countries, including India, sparking global public health alerts.

Though the global COVID-19 pandemic has eased with widespread vaccination and natural immunity, new variants continue to emerge, requiring ongoing vigilance. West Bengal, including Narayangarh, still reports sporadic cases, mostly mild, but the risk remains, especially for unvaccinated and vulnerable populations.

Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne viral disease caused by the Chikungunya virus, primarily transmitted by the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes — the same vectors that spread dengue and Zika viruses. The disease causes fever and severe joint pain, often debilitating patients for weeks or months.

Dengue fever, transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, thrives in tropical and subtropical climates like West Bengal. The monsoon and post-monsoon seasons bring stagnant water—perfect breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Narayangarh and surrounding areas regularly report spikes in dengue cases during these periods, making public awareness and prevention critical.

Swine Flu, caused by the H1N1 influenza virus, is a contagious respiratory disease that emerged prominently in 2009 as a global pandemic. It spreads mainly through respiratory droplets when infected people cough or sneeze. Though initially alarming, continued awareness and vaccination have helped control outbreaks. However, sporadic cases and clusters continue to appear, especially in monsoon and winter seasons in India.
